My History
I began teaching at the Kindergarten level in Central Vermont. After a year teaching kindergarten for someone on maternity leave I moved to Lyndonville, Vermont. There I spend two more years teaching kindergarten and a year teaching fifth grade. During these years I spent summers as a camp counselor working with 8-11 year olds at Camp Treetops in Lake Placid, NY. I also started middle school Track & Field and Cross-Country Running programs while in Lyndonville.
The fall of 2006 brought me down to the Boston area. The impetus for Boston was running. As a marathon runner, I was looking for faster people to run with, but I wanted to stay in New England. And Boston, after all, is the Marathon Capital of the region, if not the country or the world.
I spend two years working with the Museum of Science, Boston. There I worked with the Engineering is Elementary program developing engineering curriculum for 1st to 5th graders. I also ran professional development for teachers (across the country), and developed and maintained their web site.
In 2008 I decided I needed to return to the classroom. Writing curriculum was not nearly as much fun as actually teaching it.
