Social Studies
The big topics in third grade social studies are Colonial Times and the events leading up to the Revolutionary War. There is no better place to study this than here in Eastern Massachusetts -- especially in Arlington, home to the beginnings of the Revolutionary War.
In addition to direct instruction during "social studies time," social studies content is present in a couple units of study in Reading where students construct their own meaning by reading non-fiction books about the time period.
The third grade social studies curriculum includes:
- Colonial Times
- The Wampanoag
- The Revolutionary War
- New England and Massachusetts Geography
- Map Skills
This year, Social Studies instruction will be lead by Miss Tinsley. She will be in the room every Wednesday afternnon working with the students in room 227.
